...we all scream for ice cream!
On a recent visit back home (WI) this fall I made a fantastic new discovery right in downtown Mineral Point, Atomic Ice. Atomic Ice is an ice cream and coffee shop on High St. However, you really get sooooo much more when a patron of this gem of a shop. Go in to get a scoop or shot in this eclectic, vibrant (even on a dreary day), warm atmosphere and undoubtedly walk out the door with a smile on your face and a pleasant impression miraculously implanted on your brain.
Besides being an incredibly cute and inviting shop from the sign out front all the way back to the kitchen, the real reason why this place is so special is a friendly hello and smile named Julia. Julia is the proprietor of Atomic Ice and I had the opportunity of getting to know her a little during the week that I was visiting. Boy am I glad I did! Julia is one of those people that is a friend to everyone, looks you in the eye, cares about what you have to say, always seemingly in a cheery mood, she is the type of person that a sense community is built on. A pillar. She sits down and chats with her customers, friends, gets to know them, and even sympathizes with their struggles. She does all this while running around answering the phone and serving up delicious locally made ice cream and coffee. You can tell that her customers, friends, truly love her too! Who wouldn't?
So go in for some ice cream and a coffee, or both, but if you are fortunate enough to meet Julia then your experience at Atomic Ice is likely to change your mood or even totally make your day! I am fortunate to now call her friend and you can bet I'll be back into Atomic for an ice cream, coffee, chat and warm smile all served up by the treasure that is, Julia.
Erin this is a beautiful set! You have some guts to ask a stranger to pose for you. These pics make me want to go there to get ice cream!
ReplyDeletewell thanks. but it was really no big deal to ask Julia. once inside the front door you are no longer considered strangers at Atomic Ice. Its just who she is. :)
