Did you know April is national Poetry Month? One of my favorite jewelry designers is Jeanine Payer. All her pieces have lines of poetry inscribed on them. They are not only moving but very beautifully designed as well. I own one piece that I bought for myself and I absolutely adore. I recently heard that she was pairing with the Academy of American Poets and putting on a contest to win a piece from her collection. Click here to see the official contest page and get the brief.
The contest involves Poetry, Photography and Jewelry.....three of my favorite things. So I decided to give it a shot and enter. I used an original piece that I have very recently written. I am sharing my poem and the photos I took for the contest with you today. Hope you enjoy them. I have my finger's crossed that I might just win too!!! Glimpse Into Me
These thoughts are my own,
the truest, purest piece of me
They are unshared, unashamed,
to be shared and ashamed is for me alone
These thoughts,
they are intimate, unveiled, shrouded by cleverness
Mine alone
These thoughts are my own,
the truest, purest piece of me
Their release could be the greatest gift ever given, ever received
These thoughts,
they stand heavy, alone, not yet tainted by others insecurities
Mine alone
These thoughts are my own,
the truest, purest piece of me
Where is the courage to give this gift
Who could I trust to defend such treasures
recognize and accept them as they are
These thoughts,
honest, unrefined, beautiful and bewitching
Mine alone
These thoughts are my own,
the truest, purest piece of me
I have buried them the deepest
Who will do the work to dig me out,
be fair to the pieces they find
These thoughts,
what will be the price for this gift I give
Mine alone
These thoughts are my own,
the truest, purest piece of me
Once shared, impossible to retrieve
Could this glimpse into me be the greatest gift,
given to another, given to me
These thoughts are my own
Ours alone
