Weekly Photography Challenge (blue)

Challenge Brief:

This week's challenge is brought to you by the colour BLUE!

We're going to go on a little treasure hunt this week.

Rules:

1.) Go out into your community/city/town/street and search for things that are blue.

2.) Submit three photos (Colour of course) by Sat. Aug 1st.

3.) Tweaking is allowed.

4.) Try to create a set of photos as apposed to just three random pictures. Think about how they all work together to create either an idea or a feeling.

5.) HAVE FUN!

I visited an amish farm this week with my mom. I had a great trip back in time and found lots of blue along the way!!!

  1. Love the dresses on the clothes line.

  2. It is hard for me to pick a fav, love them all for different reasons. The last one has movement to it and all the different dresses and angle make it very appealing to look at. The middle one has the most depth, love the play with sun and shadow playing with the wood shed(?) and all the texture in the wood helps pops the tealish wheel barrow. The first one is a nice close up of veggies(?), the green and orange colors really help pop the blue, and love the two different types of blues in the photo.

  3. What an odd looking carrot! I find it interesting that you chose to sort of feature the carrot in this shot. Even though these pictures are about blue...the contrast of the orange with the blue carton actually brings the blue out more!

What struck me about the second image was how ordinary a scene it was but somehow you make it look just beautiful. I love the warmth of the wood paired with the coolness of the blues in this image.

last image: LOVE LOVE LOVE. Great movement (as stated above by others). Did you burn the edges of this image? If so, I think it was a very strong choice. If there hadn't been that bright green dress in the middle-ish of the clothes line this picture would have been a total flop. The green dress really brings out the textures of the dresses.

Great job this week! It's nice to have you back in the swing of things.

  4. erin, these are BEAUTIFUL!
I really love the fact that so many of your pictures recently have a definite "midwest" feel!
my favorite is the middle image of the wood pile- the repetition of the logs creates such a neato composition, and is framed just beautifully by the blue doors.
I also really like the last one of the clothes hanging outside- again, the repetition of the lines and shapes really makes this a strong photograph

  5. Very nice! I appreciate how the blue frames the patterns in the first two, and I like the variety of textures in all three.

  6. Can't believe I was with you, saw the same things you saw, yet, you captured them in a way I didn't see them. You are a photog star!

  7. Very cool theme...my favorite are the dresses. I love the angle and the lighting. I also love how most of them are all in a line...but then there is one that is out of line. Very nice!

  8. Your pictures leave me with such a nice, happy feeling. The first one is great because of the shade of blue. I like how you cropped it.

The second one has a lovely rustic feel to it. I see that there is blue in it, but if I looked at it without knowing the challenge, I probably wouldn't have said blue right away. I don't care. I still love it for it's rusticness.

The last one is my favorite! Either your tweaking or your camera setting (or both) really made the blues pop. I love the tones!
