treasures

I have recently started a very very overdue project of unpacking, sorting, purging and organizing the rest of our things that never got unpacked in our original move. It is really quite unacceptable that I have been putting this off for so long….however, between living in London for two years, summers in the midwest, home improvement projects, a new fascination with photography and everything else…. my procrastination is now ending and I'm making it happen. So, many of our processions have been packed up in boxes for well, quite a few years now. As I go through boxes I make little discoveries, most boxes are filled with mundane household stuff, but sometimes I open a box and I discover a whole bunch of little treasures I have either totally forgotten about or it has been so long that it is like christmas morning for me.

I have decided to document some of this process to share these discoveries with you. I promise not to include the garden hose and my waffle iron…..but I do want, and plan to share the things that are entirely tied to my heart that I am often nearly moved to tears over them. I may also include some things that strike me as funny as well. Since this project and all the other projects that stem from this are taking up most of my time for the next couple months, I am hoping that doing this will make it a bit more fun for me and also still enable me to be creative and use my camera while I work. So without further ado…..

my favorite treasures today:

my old sketchbook.

my antique fans. they are rad and i love them. *bonus* they still work!

my American Girl Doll (Molly). she is in need of a little love these days. ;)

this precious picture frame that my sister gave to me sometime ago with a picture of her as a crazy cat lady. LOVE TO ME!!!

my grandpa's old coat from the days when he owned the elevator in Fairfield, IA. i don't remember doing so, but apparently i asked him for this years ago as a teen. i was the lucky recipient a couple years ago when he decided to finally part with it and passed it on to me. i adore how worn in it is, he definitely loved this coat and wore is all the time. well somehow it fits me like a glove…..and is super cozy! i really really do love it and it gives me warm fuzzy's inside and out. :)

  1. In the last photo of your hand in the coat, you can almost feel the cold air!

  2. awesome looking coat! and those fans! Oh those fans! fantastic - and the color of that green board they're standing on really ties the colors together in the photo.

I used to have the Molly books. And the Kirsten books - never had any dolls though.
